I have had several questions regarding the weather and practice. Practice is scheduled from 3:45-4:45 in the West gym. If there happens to be a tornado watch or warning (or other severe weather) and you don't feel comfortable having your daughter attend practice, simply keep her home. I will be here regardless and work with girls who show up, but since the weather is unpredictable (and since safety is important), use your own discretion.

Varsity players need to be at the field ready to go at 4:00 tomorrow.

Games 4/30/09 are still on!

I found out late yesterday that St. Teresa has a total roster of 18, so we have been working to figure out details of the JV game. St Teresa's coach did not feel he could do a full varsity and full JV game with 18 girls, but we are asking him for as much as possible. Please be aware that we will try to get as much as possible for both teams, but that the JV game may have to be shortened if he doesn't have enough players.

-Early out for tomorrows game VS Decatur St. Theresa will be at 3:10 for both JV and Varstiy

-The games against Decatur MacArthur and Decatur Eisenhower will be Varsity only (these schools do not have JV squads).

-On May 7, parking will NOT be available in Judah's parking lot. Please park at Franklin if you have trouble finding a spot.

-Senior Day will be on May 14th. More information about events will follow soon.

Information about the Charleston Tournament:

RE: 1^st Annual Lady Trojan’s Spring Classic – May 1 & 2, 2009

On behalf of Charleston High School, welcome to the 1^st Annual Lady Trojan’s Spring Classic.

The tournament will be similar to the boys’ Red & Gold Invitational. Currently the varsity and junior varsity each have four teams and will play three games. Both tournament’s varsity and junior varsity will be structured using round robin play within the pool. The entry fee is $150 per Varsity Team and $150 per Junior Varsity Team. (Make checks payable toCharleston Community Unit #1).

The site for the Friday and Saturday tournament games will be Southeast Park (located on South IL 130). We will have a site coordinator with a cell phone/radio --should you need anything, please contact them and we will try our best to accommodate.

The games have been scheduled 90 minutes apart. Please have your teams warmed-up and ready to play at the designated times in order to keep the tournament on schedule. We have scheduled the Junior Varsity games to follow the perspective Varsity games on the same field. If the weather turns detrimental, a decision by the participating coaches will decide if we shorten the tournament or we adjust the length of the games.

We will be charging a daily admission to the tournament this year: $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students. The reason to charge for admission is to cover the cost of officials since the teams’ entry fee falls short of covering the cost of the officials.

At Sister City Park we would like bus drivers to park their busses in a different location from where the games will be played. Sister City Park (South on Rt. 130) - After delivering your team, please have the bus go back to the far north parking lot to allow more parking space for the parents and fans.

Please fax a copy of your team rosters to the attention of Paul Stranz at Charleston High School (217) 639-5005. Please include coaches’ name, phone number, e-mail address, and cell phone number if you have one. You may also e-mail your roster to pstranz@charleston.k12.il.us if it would be easier.

Ø Concessions will be available.

Ø Restrooms will be the port-a-potties at each site.

Ø SBLHC Orthopedics & Sports Medicine will be available to all teams at both locations. Please provide your own supplies to handle pre-existing conditions e.g. braces, tape, etc.

Ø There will be a trophy presentation at the end of the corresponding game. If a team is unavailable, the trophy will be mailed.

Ø Final results will be faxed or e-mailed to each team on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.

Ø The team listed first on the attached schedule will be the home team and provide three game balls for the contest.

Girls Soccer: Conditioning and Open Gym Update

All remaining open gyms will be from 4-5:30 p.m. on Sunday evenings. There will be no open gym on Superbowl Sunday, and the last open gym will be February 22.

Due to space availability, there will be a change in our conditioning schedule. Please pay attention to the following dates: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for the next two weeks (1/12, 1/13, 1/14, and 1/20 and 1/22) we will only be doing conditioning as a group if we are able to go outside. We will go outside if the temperature is above 30 and there is no ice or snow on the ground. There will be a sign outside room 207 after 5th hour each of these days indicating whether or not we will meet. There is no indoor space during these dates which will accommodate our needs.

Each Tuesday and Thursday from 1/27 through 2/26 we will definitely meet. Although we will have indoor space during these times, our first option will always be to go outside. Please bring the appropriate clothing for both indoors and outdoors.

Conditioning and open gyms are optional, but are provided as an opportunity for interaction and physical conditioning. Attendance is encouraged, but showing up for tryouts in shape is the top priority, whether you work out on your own or with the group. Ideally, you should be working out 5 days per week, so these sessions should supplement your individual efforts.
